Memoir of Braum
Given to [[Garfield Arbuckle]] during the [[Bollorith, Warden of Knowledge]] arc
The memoir in thorough detail describes the life of Braum from birth to death. Braum was a half-elf born into a family of rogues and joined a guild at a fairly young age. By 23, he had two kids named Daphne and Kim, with his first partner named Emily. They separated when Braum was caught cheating. This was the first time Braum was faced with the consequences of his actions, and rather than kill the problem, he faced it head on. He improved as a person, still a bit of a work in progress, but he improved. He still fulfilled his contracts, but his work was separate from his time as a father, going so far as to get jewelry that let him have a disguised self so he could take his kids to the park on weekends. Emily had found another partner, a military contractor from Odron. He was everything Braum wasn't, and he had to swallow that pill of life. Braum did find other partners, but never let them around his kids. By the age of 46, Braum was diamond-ranked in the shadow guild and, under a disguise named Parker, would help his community. He got married to a wood elf named Tori and settled down in Fedinia, joining the Black Claws. Moving away from assassinations, he carried out more mundane tasks until he was contracted to guide a group to the great library of Naoki. Two million vales, enough to retire and never have to get his hands dirty. He took the job and made his way to the ancient library. Braum wasn't much of a reader, but maybe it had souvenirs for his kids to have. A new ring for Tori out of emerald, maybe? He traveled with ten but was the last man standing as they spent days within the library. Thanks to Tori Braum had learned the ways of a ranger and could cast spells to keep his party bellies full but their minds were starved. Strange entities in hoods sucked their lifeforce and spat out a book. Within the next hour, the fallen would become one of those entities. Braum tried his best to make it, but could never escape. The doorway changed, his exit gone.
